Bring on the summer fun with a S’mores Dessert Board filled with unique and classic options to make everyone’s favorite fire-roasted treat!
Why We Love Dessert Charcuterie Boards
- Dessert boards are SUPER fun and you can make them in so many ways! For summer I love a s’mores dessert board. It has all the classic flavors and fun variations my family loves.
- Take a chocolate, graham cracker, and marshmallow adventure! Try different marshmallow flavors, and different kinds of chocolate and candy, and swap out regular graham crackers for cookies.
- Chocolate charcuterie boards are an easy way to avoid a ton of dishes while keeping everything front and center for serving. Give your guests a paper plate to eat their s’mores over and you’re set.
Ingredients You’ll Need to Make a S’mores Dessert Bar
CANDY: You can bring out all your favorite chocolate-based candies in every variety you like: chocolate bars, white chocolate bars, peanut butter cups, caramel-filled chocolate candy, cookies and cream bars, and even spreads like Nutella and peanut butter.
MARSHMALLOWS: If you were thinking there is only one kind of marshmallow, you have been missing out. Now they make stuffed marshmallows that have chocolate inside, a chocolate flavor stuffed with chocolate, and cookies and cream flavor. You can also add marshmallow fluff if you want to avoid the toasting part of the process.
COOKIES: To hold everything together you need a top and bottom layer to your s’more, usually that would be a graham cracker broken in half. Let’s see how we can upgrade that part of a s’more, shall we?! Try using shortbread cookies, Biscoff cookies, chocolate chip cookies, stroopwafles, any of the Keebler cookie varieties, or even a delicious peanut butter cookie.
BOARDS: Get creative with how to assemble your dessert charcuterie board, if you have a large wooden cutting board or wooden display board that is usually the first option. However, there are plenty of other creative ways to display everything. You can use a large cookie sheet (which is nice if it has sides to make it easy to carry outside if you’re doing a fire to roast marshmallows), parchment paper on your countertop or table, an array of bowls arranged on your work surface, or anything else large and clean to display ingredients.
How to Assemble a Dessert Charcuterie Board
Jump to RecipeSTEP 1 Arrange the larger items for your board first, any large bowls or stacks of ingredients, and establish the flow of the board. Add in any medium-sized items around the larger ones to continue filling in your board.
STEP 2 fill in with the smallest items to cover any bare areas, and remember you can sprinkle items around to fill gaps and give the charcuterie board a full look. Chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, fruit, and additional sweet snacks like Hershey kiss varieties are good for filling in spots.
STEP 3 Pick out the s’mores combination you want to try and toast the marshmallow (if you like) before assembling your s’mores.
Tips & Tricks
- Use fruits with your s’mores ingredients – berries are always good with chocolate and sometimes oranges are a delicious addition as well. The chocolate on a dessert board goes well with raspberries and strawberries, and peanut butter goes great with sweet apple varieties.
- Remember to place skewers and plates of some kind near the S’mores Dessert Board so all the supplies you need to eat are close at hand.
- If you’re doing indoor marshmallow roasting with small fires you can create several small boards near each flame or one large board and roasting stations with skewers.
- You can prep ahead of time and have ingredients in their own containers and assemble the board when it is time for dessert. You can also assemble the whole board ahead if you have the space, just remember if the chocolate gets warm, it gets messy.

S’mores Dessert Board FAQ
What can I put on a dessert board?
You can put any sweets you like on a dessert board. I’ve seen dessert boards that are all candy, a strawberry shortcake board with slices of cake and fruit, chocolate-themed boards, boards with mini pies, and ice cream bard boards. Heck, I’ve even boards that are based on color and use a variety of treats as long as they’re all the same color or create a rainbow. Dessert boards are great for holidays too since you can make them really themed with fun colors, shaped treats and cookies, and seasonal items.
Does chocolate go on a charcuterie board?
If you want to add it, go for it! There’s no reason you can’t add some chocolate-covered almonds to a savory cheese & meat board. I love mixing salty and sweet foods together and bouncing between them. There are lots of cheeses that pair wonderfully with chocolate too. Add a glass of wine and you’ve got an all-in-one happy hour at home.
